How it is calculated
Cockcroft-Gault: ((140 - age) × weight) / (72 × serum creatinine in mg/dL) × 0.85 if female. This uses the weight you entered, whichever that was. The equation was derived on total body weight, but many drug references apply it with ideal body weight, and with adjusted body weight where the patient is obese, and the three give materially different answers in the patients where dosing matters most. Decide which the drug reference you are following intends, and enter that weight. Creatinine in µmol/L must be divided by 88.4 first. These are drug-dosing bands, not CKD stages: KDIGO G1-G5 are defined on eGFR in mL/min/1.73 m².
