How it is calculated

Khorana predicts VTE in ambulatory patients receiving chemotherapy - it is not for hospitalised patients, who receive prophylaxis anyway. Very high-risk tumour sites (stomach, pancreas) score 2 and lung, lymphoma, gynaecological, bladder and testicular score 1. The decision always weighs bleeding risk against thrombosis.
