How it is calculated

NEXUS: midline cervical tenderness, intoxication, altered alertness, focal neurological deficit, or a distracting painful injury. All five must be absent to clear the spine clinically. It is a rule-out tool with very high sensitivity, and it does not apply to children or to penetrating trauma.
