How it is calculated

APLS estimates: under 1 year (age in months x 0.5) + 4; 1-5 years 2 x (age + 4); 6-12 years 4 x age. These are for emergencies where weighing is impossible - they are only estimates, they diverge in obesity and malnutrition, and a length-based tape is more accurate.
