How it is calculated
SOFA scores six organ systems from 0 to 4 each. Its value is in the trend rather than a single number - a rising score over 48 hours predicts outcome far better than an admission value, and Sepsis-3 defines sepsis as suspected infection plus a SOFA rise OF 2 OR more.
