About

Vitamin D stores. Worth correcting before starting a bisphosphonate, or the treatment works poorly and can drop the calcium.

When it is low

Deficiency (under 20 ng/mL, 50 nmol/L): osteomalacia, secondary hyperparathyroidism. correct before starting a bisphosphonate or symptomatic hypocalcaemia follows

When it is high

Excess supplementation: hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis
