About

Serum chloride, used mostly with sodium and bicarbonate to calculate the anion gap.

When it is low

Hypochloremia: vomiting, NG suction, metabolic alkalosis, SIADH

When it is high

Hyperchloremia: dehydration, RTA, normal saline excess, diarrhea
