About

The clotting protein consumed in DIC and major bleeding. It is also an acute phase reactant, so it rises with inflammation.

When it is low

DIC, liver disease, fibrinolysis, dysfibrinogenemia

When it is high

Acute inflammation, infection, pregnancy, malignancy
