Range150 to 400 ×10³/µL

About

Platelet count. Both extremes matter: low risks bleeding, very high can paradoxically cause both clotting and bleeding.

When it is low

Thrombocytopenia: bleeding risk, ITP, TTP, HIT, bone marrow suppression

When it is high

Thrombocytosis: infection, inflammation, iron deficiency, malignancy, splenectomy
