Activated partial thromboplastin time, testing the intrinsic pathway. Prolonged by heparin, haemophilia and lupus anticoagulant.

When it is low

Hypercoagulable state

When it is high

Heparin therapy, hemophilia, vWD, lupus anticoagulant, DIC
