About

Total thyroxine, bound and unbound. Affected by pregnancy and oestrogens, which is why free T4 is preferred.

When it is low

Hypothyroidism, low tbg (nephrotic, liver disease)

When it is high

Hyperthyroidism, high tbg (pregnancy, estrogen, hepatitis)
