About

Urine specific gravity, a rough measure of concentration and therefore of hydration and of whether the kidney can still concentrate.

When it is low

Dilute urine: overhydration, diabetes insipidus, renal disease

When it is high

Concentrated: dehydration, SIADH, contrast, glycosuria
