About

The end product of purine metabolism. Raised in gout and tumour lysis, though a normal level during an acute attack does not exclude gout.

When it is low

SIADH, liver disease, low purine diet, xanthine oxidase inhibitors

When it is high

Gout, renal failure, tumor lysis, diuretics, high purine diet
