Range65 to 100 mmHg

About

The average pressure driving organ perfusion, roughly diastolic plus a third of the pulse pressure. Resuscitation targets this rather than the systolic.

When it is low

MAP <65: Inadequate organ perfusion. Target ≥65 in sepsis, higher in TBI (>80)

When it is high

MAP >100: Increased afterload, risk of end-organ damage if sustained

How it is measured

MAP = DBP + (PP/3). Better reflection of tissue perfusion than SBP alone.
